Strange the Dreamer is the first book in “Strange the dreamer dualogy” by Laini Talyor, second part in this series Muse of Nightmares was published recently. Strange the Dreamer is a young adult fantasy book which tells the story of a young orphaned boy named Lazlo Strange, who is a librarian in city of Zosma. Since he was five years old he’s been obsessed with the mythic lost city of Weep, but it would take someone bolder than he to cross half the world in search of it. Then a stunning opportunity presents itself, in the person of a hero called the Godslayer and a band of legendary warriors, and he has to seize his chance or lose his dream forever. The answer for all the mystery is unfolded through his journey to the city of weep.

I have read the digital version of the book; however the physical copy is much more attractive and beautiful. The mysterious city of weep successfully holds the attention of the reader, and the mysteries that unfolds towards the latter half of the book is mind blowing also leave a spark in the mind of readers to take up the next book in the series. The character development of the protagonist Lazlo Strange as well as Thyon Nero, the alchemist is really interesting. The plot is placed with the outmost brilliance and authors writing style is really appreciated. The author is successful keeping up to the writing style of her previous bestselling Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy. The book which packed with mystery is enjoyable to read and give pleasure to readers of all age. The ending is pretty satisfying as well as it makes you want read the next book in the series. Although the book falls into genre of YA, it can be enjoyed by readers of all age who is into fantasy. I wasn’t a fan this genre until I read this book.

I would recommend this book to all those who is looking for something out of the ordinary and for some fantasy, especially to the fans of YA novels. I would give the book 3 stars.
